March 30th 2010:  A busy month mostly spent in site preparation at Colony Farm saw another milestone achieved with the construction of our banding Pagoda to provide a better banding environment for both banders and the birds!

Two new sites were prepared in addition to our main banding station at Wilson’s Farm North as part of MetroVancouver’s comprehensive bird study which will involve both banding and radius point counts in the two new study areas – Wilson’s Farm South and Home Farm. We will now have a total of 41 nets operating at peak times in the 3 locations!

Our Hummingbird monitoring station has been set up and our swallow boxes are already being checked out by the Tree Swallows so everything is in place for spring migration banding which kicks off this Thursday April 1st at dawn – bring on the birds!
