Jason Jones Ph.D., R.P.Bio., P.Biol.
Jason is a Registered Professional Biologist in BC and an experienced field ornithologist.

He has worked on and watched birds throughout North America and abroad (Ethiopia, Central and South America, Scandinavia, New Zealand).

Jason's doctoral thesis and subsequent academic research focused on habitat selection behaviour of Cerulean Warblers on both the breeding grounds (deciduous forests in eastern Ontario) and winter grounds (shade coffee plantations and montane forests in Venezuela). Additional projects including using stable isotopes to track migration patterns, examining large-scale synchronization of fluctuations in migrant populations, and examining bird mortality resulting from light attraction.

Jason is a North American Banding Council Certified Bander and Trainer, and is on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Avian Research Centre.

Jason has been involved in environmental education for over 25 years: as a park naturalist in BC provincial parks, as a nature tour guide, and as a college professor. He is happiest when outside, sharing his enthusiasm for all things wild with others.

He is also a self-confessed Hobbit!
